Amelia Giles is a versatile musician who is active in both the New Zealand instrumental and choral communities.
Her musical journey with the violin started at the age of three through the Suzuki Method. Tertiary studies led to baroque violin lessons with Dr Graham McPhail and a MMus in both Modern and Baroque Violin Performance.
Amelia is also a fully registered classroom teacher, specialising in Kodály Concept Music Education and is currently the sole-charge full-time music specialist at Royal Oak Primary School in Auckland, Outside the classroom Amelia continues to play and sing in a wide range of both project-based, and long-term ensembles, including New Zealand’s Baroque Orchestra ‘NZ Barok’, of which she is a founding member.
